Listing kit
Everything needed to list the festival on Google, Facebook, calendars and the press. Each box has a copy button.
1. Google Search and Google Events
The site already carries Google’s event data (date, times, place, prices, the blind tasting and the speakeasy). Google lists the event from that. These steps tell Google to read it again.
- Open Search Console and pick the manchesterwinefestival.com property.
- Sitemaps (left menu): enter
sitemap.xmland press Submit, even though it is already listed. That replaces the old 9/23 read. The new sitemap includes the press page. - URL inspection (top search bar): paste
https://manchesterwinefestival.com/, then Request indexing. Do the same forhttps://manchesterwinefestival.com/press/. - Check the event: open the Rich Results Test for the homepage. It should find Events and FAQ with no errors.
- Wait a few days, then search “wine festival Vermont November” or “events near Manchester VT”.
Adding an event on the site: use the Event tab in the site admin (the Festival events list). Every active event there goes into Google’s data automatically, so there is nothing else to do.
2. Google Business Profile (Nature’s Market)
- Search Nature’s Market Manchester VT on Google while signed in as the owner. The edit panel appears above the results.
- Add update → Add event. Use the title, dates and text below, add a festival photo, and set the button to Buy with the ticket link.
- Ask the library to post the same on its own profile.
3. Facebook event
- On the Nature’s Market page: Create → Event → In person.
- Location: Manchester Community Library. Cover photo: the Facebook share image from the press page.
- Add Manchester Community Library and Orvis as co-hosts, so it shows on their pages too.
- Ticket URL: the link below.
4. Community calendars
Most calendars ask for a short and a long description. Submit to: the Manchester Business Association (manchestervermont.com), the Bennington Area Chamber, Seven Days, the Manchester Journal and Bennington Banner, Vermont Public’s community calendar, Vermont Tourism (vermontvacation.com), AllEvents and Eventbrite (listing only, tickets stay on our site).
5. Email to newspapers and radio
Send from your own email. One outlet per email reads better than a long BCC list.
7. Ask our friends to spread the word
A link from a friend’s own website counts for more in Google than anything on ours. Start with the library, Orvis and The Bank of Bennington: they have events or news pages, and Google trusts their sites. Send from your own email, one friend at a time.
6. Posts for our own pages
